Prior to focusing on prose, Arneson trained in theater and dance, worked in alternative and educational theater, then set off to write and perform a series of one-woman shows. In the rise of performance art and beyond, she earned a reputation in the Twin Cities as a “one-woman tornado” with her multi-character works on childhood, sexuality, and the underbelly of the American dream, and her work was featured at alternative venues across the country. She continues to lead whole-body workshops to develop autobiographically-based story, most notably with inmates of a men’s correctional facility, and most recently as a visiting artist for the Art Therapy Department at University of Wisconsin Superior. She continues to develop and perform new stories, most recently for the 2018 Fringe Festival with musician Tony Hauser in her work, Itchy Tingles. Read Lavender Magazine’s Review of Itchy Tingles >
